Investigating the Relationships Between University Students’ Epistemological Beliefs and Learning Approaches: A Path Analysis Study

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between epistemological beliefs and learning approaches university students. mediator effect gender also tested. A theoretical model created, considering literature personality types’ effects on were kept under control. total 244 students studying in 26 different departments a Turkey participated study. Data collection tools Epistemological Beliefs Scale (attaining knowledge, nurture vs. nature, absolute single reality, epistemic confliction), Learning Approaches (deep approach surface approach), Personality Types (type type B personality). It hypothesized that sophisticated positively predict deep naive approach. In addition, it is predicted will differ for males females. Path analysis method used test models. Results showed attaining knowledge confliction dimensions versus moderator not significant overall model. results research indicate are interrelated structures.
